Wrinkles are one of the very first visible signs of ageing. They are usually the main reason people investigate cosmetic treatment for the first time. You only need to watch TV, explore the web or social media to realise there’s an enormous amount of products and treatments claiming anywhere from minor to miraculous results in treating wrinkles. It’s understandable then that people find it overwhelming to work out what the best way forward is for them – often using trial and error and wasting time and money with an equally broad range of results.

At Peak Appearance, we try to make the process of treating the visible signs of ageing simple – by using only proven products and treatments, and looking at every person as an individual and treating their anatomy accordingly. So you will certainly need to start with a consultation. Once we can take the time to assess what is the underlying cause of your particular concerns, only then can we create a treatment plan that will work for you. Whether you are concerned by Frown Lines, Forehead Lines, Crows Feet or all of the above, we are able to tailor your treatment plan specifically to your needs – no more, no less.

Wrinkles are categorised into two types – static and dynamic. Dynamic are the wrinkles that appear when we contract a muscle, or make a facial expression (such as crows feet when we smile or frown lines when we frown). They are caused by the skin creasing or folding when the underlying muscle is contracted. When the muscle relaxes, dynamic wrinkles no longer appear.

After many years of continually contracting those same facial muscles, the dynamic wrinkles eventually become static wrinkles. These are the ones that are still there even though the muscle is no longer contracting. These are the ones that cause people to ask “What’s wrong?” or comment “You look tired” when there’s nothing wrong and we are well rested! Both types are able to be treated, but like most things in life, the sooner you act, the better the result. Treating dynamic wrinkles early can prevent static wrinkles from forming. This can slow the ageing process down dramatically. Adopting this preventative approach (and often coupling it with Preventative Aesthetic treatments) can slow the ageing process from affecting our appearance.
